HORTICULTURE TECHNICIAN
Our Horticultural Service Technician is an integral part of our team. They are aligned with who we are and where we are going. They believe in our “Why” and embody our values in the way they operate and deliver on all their job tasks and responsibilities. They are personally motivated to create and continuously improve an exceptional service experience that speaks for itself and distinguishes us from others in the industry. They love getting their hands dirty, working hard in all aspects of our landscapes as well as inspiring others to do the same.
This important position is focused on the evolution of all our clients’ gardens. They preemptively address clients’ unique properties, paying close attention to plant, shrubs, and tree health as well as all hard-scaping aspects. You will work closely with the Horticulturalist Service Manager to ensure we provide a high level of service and quality work. You are eager to learn and grow your skills and capabilities. You are aligned with our mission and embody the “4 P’s” of Parklane – People, Passion, Plant and Performance. You love what you do and enjoy collaborating with others on the team. You work safely for yourself, your team, and our clients. You are trustworthy, reliable and willing to dig in and get dirty.
Necessary skill and qualifications for this role:
- Ability to take initiative and follow direction
- A love for working in the great outdoors and all it has to offer
- Comfortable with gas powered tools and hand tools required for garden work and construction work
- Identification skills of common trees, shrubs, and perennials as well as ability to identify and control common weeds and invasive species (an asset).
- Clear and organized communication skills (English)
- Eager and willing to learn, be flexible and adaptive to change quickly
- G or higher licence with clean abstract, proficient and safe operation of truck and trailer combination (an asset).
- Valid First Aid + CPR
Responsibilities of our Horticulturist Service Technician:
- Consistent and responsible attention to all company policies and health and safety practices
- Willing to work and assist all team members on all daily tasks on and off site
- Pay close attention to detail and quality of work performed – Listen and follow direction of Lead
- Collaborate and engage with all team members during loading and unloading of daily tools, equipment, and materials in an organized, efficient and effective manner
- Be engaged in understanding the full scope of every job and what the daily flow of work will be, setting goals with the team on efficiency and productivity
- Continuous improvement of skills and interest in learning new things as well as engaging team members to do the same
- Reliable and dependable, showing up every day with the right tools and attitude to perform all tasks to the best of your ability – Contribute in a positive Proactively make suggestions on client properties and create systems to address all aspects of our landscapes.
